First day of 2013 duck hunt with the kids

It was a nice day with the kids this morn. I got off from the fire dept at 7am so we got a late start. It was a chilly 16. Zach got his first pintail and Kaitlyn her first duck a gadwall. They both tag teamed a mallard hen. What a great day on Barkley lake.

Duck hunt in Ballard county with brother

Me and my brother on a day of hunting in 2010 at Ballard County Refuge

I started duck hunting in the late 80s on Lake Barkley with a friend of mine. It was good back then because he had the boat and the decoys. I learned a lot back in the day from decoy placement to how and when to call. Since then my brother and I have come a long way from hunting in the buck bushes to having our own floater. The floater was a 12 ft x 27 ft x 8 ft heated shooting room and the rest was boat parking. But it was hard work with the floater. Now we have a bigger boat and a boat blind we came move where the ducks are. I'll try to find some old pictures of the floater and post one day.
